Word “YOGA” originates from the Sanskrit word “YUJ” which means union or togetherness.  This means the union of self with the universe. Yoga concepts are simple, universal &  available to all.

6AMYOGA wishes to keep it straightforward. If you are looking for immediate & dramatic benefits from the practice of YOGA, probably this is not the right place for you.

First and foremost you cannot do yoga. Yoga can only be lived thru. A person who steps out after an hour of Asana practice and drives his car rashly on the road is missing the concept of YOGA.

You must have heard many names like Hathayoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Power yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Yin yoga… and many more. Superficially they look a lot different. But, believe us all these forms of yoga are the same wine in different bottles.

The underlying concept of yoga is all the same. As we said its very simple. Yoga is not for a few months or years. It’s for a lifetime. Its 99% practice & 1% theory as Shri Pattabhi Jois puts it.

A student’s job is to be disciplined & keep going without looking for results. Results will flow on its own without your knowledge. Do not run behind twisted poses. They will come to you when you are ready…

6AMYOGA strongly rests on these fundamentals of yoga & our teachers and students are a testimony to these beliefs. Therefore we do not compromise on quality… Be sure that you will be taken thru the right path at the right place.

Founder's Note

In 1992 my father sent me to VR Iyer Gymnasium on MG Road Thrissur. I used to go there every day without knowing head & tail of what I was going for. For many years I practiced yoga without knowing what it was doing for me.  I was more interested in Asanas & twisted poses. Slowly I started realizing that twisted poses are only the beginning & that’s not all. With continuous practice, I started realizing the importance of breath, slowing down the practice, importance of quality of poses, focus on mind balance etc. That’s when I realized how continuous practice of anything unfolds the secrets and essence of the underlying concepts. The subtle points of asana, breath control, and mind presence started appearing in front of me one by one.

I believe its a continuous never-ending journey. It has changed my stability, strength, breath quality, mind presence, balance… and many more. I assure you that I and our teachers will lead you thru this simple but long drawn journey…
